Here's to three!
Today is a double post day.
Cole is turning four tomorrow, and for some reason I am oddly sad about it. He has been the sweetest three year old on the planet, and right this minute, I am not looking forward to him getting one year closer to not calling me mommy anymore or swearing off hugs and kisses.
Can four be just as nice? Is it possible?

The new site is up!
The Joy Wright Photography site is now up! I have been working so hard on this, and it is finally finished! Check out the link here: http://www.joywrightphotography.com/

Here is Baby Eric celebrating! He really enjoyed the cake, though he mashed it up for a couple of minutes before he realized it was food!

Roses
All the rain this spring has really given me a beautiful spring flush this year. This is one of my favorites, Quietness, admiring herself in the bird bath after a rain.

How about some black and white?
I am a color girl all the way, but sometimes a black and white or a tint really seems perfect to me. Here are a couple more of sweet Olivia. We had such a good time playing during her session!

This is one of my favorites! We always want to get the smiley portraits, but I think it's important to have a few that remind us of some of the other aspects of babyhood.

Hanna and Zach
I photographed the children of one of my work friends today. They have the greenest eyes I've ever seen!

Lovely Girls
Tonight, I had the pleasure of doing portraits for three gorgeous little ladies. They were so sweet! Here are a couple of my favorites from the session:
Mom and I were worried that we didn't get many good ones from the session, because this little one was more interested in dinner than my camera, but this is one of my favorite images EVER:

And I love this one of the two sisters blowing bubbles!

Family Party
We had a party at my mom's for my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary today. Here's a picture of Julie, Lesli and I, along with all the great grandkids.

On the way home, we were telling Cole what a good boy he had been. He said "yeah, I only hurt one person today, so I'm a good boy". (For the record, the person he hurt was his little brother who got a facefull of Cole's foot when he stepped in front of the swingset.)
I'm the best mom ever. Obviously.

New Stuff!
I got some gorgeous new templates from Photographer Cafe and have been playing with them constantly.
My new Blog Header is put together from one of their templates. What do you guys think? If you are looking for any card templates for clients, they have some beautiful ones. Here's the link: http://www.photographercafe.com/

Wii Fit
My dad just got us one of these things.
So far, I have two observations:
1) The thing is snarky! It asked all three of us if we trip when we walk, since balance apparently isn't our forte.
2) Watching Jake do the Aerobics Hula Hoop is the best entertainment I've found lately. Aren't belly laughs supposed to help you lose weight?!

Working on Blog
I'm working on customizing my blog. I downloaded the cutest bracket frame and background paper from Jen Furlotte at Pixels and Ice Cream. We'll see how it goes!

Class Session
Today our class shot at a really cool house. One of the models belonged to some friends of mine. He is totally gorgeous, and has the energy of three of me, so most of the shots I got were "action" shots. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Monkey

I tried to get a particular shot today of the fam sitting on the bed. I'm still not sure if it worked or not, but when I was done, I let Cole jump on the bed for a while. Just for the record, he makes this exact face before he jumps into the pool (he'll hold his nose and close his mouth, and the second he jumps, his mouth opens and his hand comes off his nose!)

New Seamless Paper
So I wanted to try out my new seamless paper, and (slightly sunburned) Cole agreed to be my model. We go in the guest bedroom, I mean, studio, and get everything set up. Then I tell him to sit on the ottoman. "But Mommy, I want to get IN the ottoman". So, here's what we have. (I won't even post the one where he has a sock monkey wrapped around his head like a bandana)

Here's one where he is not in the ottoman. So, what do we think of Holly? I wanted an apple green, but this was the closest I could find.

Say What?
Sometimes you really just have to wonder what is going on in the head of a 3 and 3/4 year old. This morning as I was leaving, this was the conversation:
Me: You know what, Cole? I love you like crazy.
Cole: Mommy, I love you like pieces of a door.

Dresses!
Today a couple of my friends and I did pictures of my cousin and her BFF in fun thrift store prom dresses. It will take forever for me to edit the pics, but here are a couple to tide them over:

A couple of the boys
Well, I've been far too whiny over my sore throat to do any shooting, but tonight Cole asked me to take some pictures of him in his stripey jim jams, so I did! I sure do like those jammies.
And since I can't get Gabe still for long enough to take his picture, I thought I'd post my most recent favorite of him, taken on the same backdrop a few weeks ago.

Spring!
Spring is definitely thinking about getting here (probably after one last freeze that will kill my hydrangea buds, that is). I sincerely hope that this will be the end of runny noses and sore throats for a while!
Here is our peach tree (that we've never actually gotten a peach off of!). It is surrounded by drunken bees today.

Birthday!
Today is Jake's 30th birthday. Here are my thoughts:
1) I am no longer married to a man in his 20's, so now I don't feel so OLD and
2) I wish I had taken a cake decorating class at some point

Here's Cole (well, his hand anyway), decorating Daddy's cupcakes. The icing is a cream cheese coolwhip icing, which is delicious in spite of the generally blobby look of it.
The next birthday is Cole's. He is getting so big. It wasn't that long ago that whenever anyone said "Happy Birthday" he would jump up and down and yell "Happy Birthday CAKE!" The kid definitely has his priorities in order...

You might be taking too many photography classes if...
Every time the song changes on your ipod, you stop working for a minute to carefully scrutinize the cover art. Even if you've already listened to the song (and looked at the picture) three times just today.
Has anyone seen the cover art for The Flys song "Got You Where I Want You"? What does that picture mean? Are those Snow White apples? Hmmm...

Mr. Personality

Here are a couple from Saturday of Baby Eric. We had to bring a model for studio lighting class to do a 30 minute session, and I chose him because a) he can't crawl (the importance of this cannot be overstated!) and b) the child has some major personality. He is an adorable, squishy bundle. Thanks for bringing him for me, Lesli!
